On March 11 and 12, Barcelona became the epicenter of sports sustainability with the in-person meeting of the European ESMIS project. INDESCAT, the Catalan cluster of the sports industry, hosted the various partners of this initiative, which aims to transform sports facilities to make them more sustainable and efficient.
During the sessions, participants had the opportunity to gain in-depth insight into the operations of a benchmark in sustainable sports management: Club Natació Atlètic-Barceloneta (CNAB). The guided tour provided first-hand knowledge of how this facility implements innovative strategies both from an energy perspective and in terms of user experience.
Additionally, the meeting was linked to EFISport, the 12th edition of INDESCAT’s annual conference on efficiency in sports facilities. Within this framework, the ESMIS Platform was officially presented—a key resource that includes an interactive map of best sustainability practices to help optimize energy management in sports spaces.

With this initiative, INDESCAT and its European partners reaffirm their commitment to a more responsible and efficient sports sector, embracing innovation and sustainability as fundamental pillars for the future of the industry.
